- Working closely with a variety of leading equity sponsors covering a broad spectrum of industries;
- Entrenching relationships with a group of pre-eminent limited partners providing Mezzanine Partners with access to a substantial and dependable base of committed mezzanine capital;
- Establishing and maintaining strategic working alliances with a number of domestic & international financial institutions and banks with financial expertise and unique capital resources which can enhance Mezzanine Partners’ value-adding capacity for its partners. The business’ principal strategic alliances are with:
- Old Mutual Investment Group, based in Cape Town and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Old Mutual Group. As at 31 March 2008, the group’s funds under management were £261 billion (13% in South Africa, 62% in the United States, 22% in Europe and 3% in the Asia Pacific region). Old Mutual has operated as an independent global asset management company since June 1997, and Old Mutual Investment Group is the largest institutional asset manager in South Africa with R445 billion in assets under management as at 31 March 2007. As a major player in the local institutional market it offers investors a wide range of investment products, including core investments, specialist, conventional and alternative investments.
- Brait is an international investment and financial services group focused on private equity, specialised funds management and corporate finance. It is listed on the Luxembourg, London and Johannesburg stock exchanges, with total equity and liabilities of US$295 million at 31 March 2008. Brait currently has in excess of US$1,540 billion of fee earning funds under management, and is a pioneer in alternative asset class fund management on the African continent. Brait has made in excess of 80 private equity investments since 1992, and was the first independent private equity fund manager to be operational in the South African market, targeting annual returns exceeding 30% measured in ZAR.
